Your App Is Fine. It's Everything Else

November 6, 3:45 PM AEST

Geocodio CTO & Co-Founder Mathias Hansen will take the stage on Day 2.

Think "PHP doesn't scale" is a myth? This talk dives into the architectural decisions that prove it.

Geocodio could be a good fit if you want to...

Store and reuse results

Geocodio's terms are as flexible as possible.

Analyse address data

Geocodio was built for high-volume batch processing.

Clean up messy address data

From missing postcodes to misspelt street names, Geocodio can complete your addresses.

Add timezones or constituency data

Stop hitting multiple APIs to gather the information you need.

Geocode in North America, the UK, or Australia

Geocodio supports the US, Canada, Mexico, the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Calculate typical driving time and distance

Find general straight-line and driving-distance radii.

But Geocodio is not the right fit if you want...

Autocomplete or address type-ahead

Try Geocode.Earth or another provider for autocomplete.

Worldwide coverage

Geocodio supports the US, Canada, Mexico, the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Turn-by-turn directions

Geocodio's Distance API does not do real-time routing with traffic.

One address in. All of this back.

Forward and reverse geocoding, address correction, census data, and electoral districts — in a single request

Send a North American, UK, Australian or New Zealand address or a latitude/longitude pair, and Geocodio returns clean, standardised fields and data appends like up-to-date electoral districts and Census geographies.

Census Geographies (SA1, SA2, SA3)

Census Housing
Federal Electorate (CED)
State Electorate (SED)

From messy to clean, complete, and standardised.
Every time.

Address Completion

Missing pieces like postcode or more? Geocodio can add them.

Even if you've only got '11 Percy St, 2144', we complete it to '11 Percy St, Auburn NSW 2144'. We can even add county data (Cumberland County, in this case).

Address Correction

Real-world addresses come with typos, missing fields, and creative formatting.

From misspelt street names to incorrect postcodes, Geocodio can correct and complete your addresses. (Go ahead. Try us.)

Address Parsing

Geocodio separates each address into its component parts and lines, even if the address arrives in one big lump.

For instance, Geocodio knows that 'Shop 19' in the address 'Shop 19 30 Kent St, Busselton WA 6280' should be split into the Address 2 line.

Address Standardisation

Force all your addresses into the same format. Got '15 Ocean Keys Boulevard' and '15 Ocean Keys Bvd'?

Now they're both standardised to Ocean Keys Bvd.

"PHP doesn't scale."
We disagree.

Built on Laravel since day one. Geocodio runs high-volume geocoding on a stack you know well.

Built on Laravel since 2014

150,000+ Users

300+ billion addresses processed

Geocodio just works. Given even user-inputted data, we always get the best possible outcome from Geocodio's developer-friendly API. With other solutions, we've had to do a lot of cleaning and prep ahead of time, but Geocodio does such a great job of understanding real-world data that we don't have to.

Compare Geocoders

If you currently use Google... If you currently use Addressfinder...
Geocodio allows you to store data
permanently — Google only allows 30 days of caching. Geocodio is A$1.50 per 1,000 lookups, and the first 2,500 lookups each day are free. Addressfinder charges 9.5–11c per extra lookup, or at least A$95+ per 1,000. (Note: Geocodio doesn't offer autocomplete.)
Geocodio allows you to do point-in-polygon detection
and use results on any map — Google doesn’t. Direct API access is included on every Geocodio plan, including Pay-as-you-go. Addressfinder only offers direct API access on its Business plan (from A$55/month).
Geocodio is nearly 5x cheaper — even before you factor in
being allowed to store data rather than re-run entire database monthly. Batch up to 10,000 addresses per request, or upload spreadsheets of up to 10M lookups with the Lists API, all at the same A$1.50 per 1,000 rate.
If you currently use HERE... If you currently use Mapbox...
Geocodio allows you to store AU/NZ results permanently on any plan. HERE's base plan excludes permanent geocoding and requires a sales inquiry. Geocodio has flexible storage terms built in. Mapbox's Permanent Geocoding starts at US$5 per 1,000.
Geocodio can be used for asset management and tracking without running into usage restrictions. Geocodio doesn't require a separate commercial license to use results for business intelligence, analytics, or real estate. Mapbox requires one.
Flat, predictable A$1.50/NZ$1.75 per 1,000 pricing, no enterprise sales call to unlock storage. Geocodio supports larger distance matrices (up to 50,000 points, vs 625).

Whether you have one or one hundred million locations to geocode,
we've got a plan for you

Pay-As-You-Go
A$1.50 /1k lookups
For low volume or occasional users
Flex Plans
From A$475 /mo
Access everything Geocodio can do, drawn from credits that roll over.
Self-Serve Unlimited
A$2,400 /mo
Best for teams and projects with high or consistent volume
Enterprise Unlimited
A$5,250 /mo
For organisations and data with the highest security requirements

Works with PHP and Laravel

One line to install, one env var to configure. Forward and reverse geocoding, batch lookups, field appends, list uploads, and distance matrices — every Geocodio endpoint, wrapped in a facade and fully injectable with composer.

Used by almost all industries

Political research, civic tech, and polling

Append district information to addresses or coordinates for redistricting analysis, constituent lookup tools, voter outreach, and survey weighting.

Real estate and property tech

Geocode addresses with rooftop precision when available, and append school districts, Census tracts, average household income, and more for area-level analysis.

Academic and survey research

Standardise address files and append Census demographics and political districts ahead of your analysis.

Journalism and data analysis

Map news, demographic, and election data against current and upcoming AU boundaries.

Energy, utilities, and telecom

Match meter records across systems. Reconcile and de-dupe customer data across electric and gas billing. Match service addresses to coverage maps. Add Census tracts for regulatory reporting.

Easy to integrate. Easier to stay.

Straightforward documentation. A clean, predictable API. Client libraries for PHP, Python, Ruby, Node, and more. A Google Maps compatibility mode that lets you swap endpoints in minutes. And if something in the docs doesn't make sense, the team that wrote the API is the team that answers your email.

Your results. As few storage restrictions as possible.

Other geocoding services place restrictions on how you can use or store your data. Geocodio's terms are as permissive as possible.

Store, share, and reuse most cleansed and geocoded addresses however you want, on any platform, for as long as you want. (Restrictions only on UK reverse geocoding for upstream data licensing reasons. See UK Terms)

By the time you finish reading this page, the Geocodio API will have processed 5.3 million lookups.
