Geocodio's accessibility statement

Geocodio's accessibility statement

Measures to support accessibility

We take the following measures as part of our reasonable efforts for accessibility, and are making active efforts to improve our accessibility.

We divide accessibility into the following four areas: physical accomidations, accessible and assistive technology, accessiible communications, and policy enhancements.

While we make a reasonable best effort to comform to accessibility guidelines, it's possible there are areas where we can improve. We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of Geocodio. Please see below for contact information.

Physical accommodations

We are a remote-first company. We do not have any physical locations with customer or employee access.

Accessible and assistive technology

We make a best-effort to implement accessibility guidelines as enumerated by The A11Y Project.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • the use of semantic HTML,
  • content headers,
  • image alt text and descriptions,
  • descriptive errors,
  • color contrast,
  • and other best practices.

We do not use design elements that impair accessibility, such as:

  • seizure-inducing animations
  • horizontal scrolling or scrolljacking,
  • blocking browser accessibility settings (such as text size adjustment),
  • autoplay media,
  • autofocus, and
  • other design elements that impair accessibility.

Customers can use our API, which enables them to access our services within their own development environments that they have customized to their own needs.

Accessible communications

  • We endeavor to provide transcripts and closed captions for all video content.
  • Customers can communicate with Geocodio for support via email.
  • We strive to use plain language in our writing and communications and avoid the use of culturally-specific language or metaphors.
  • We have a plain language version of our privacy policy here.
  • Use left-aligned text for major text areas.
  • Instructions and documentation via text and not color/visual only.

Policy enhancements

Dotsquare LLC dba Geocodio is a small business with under 15 employees. Under Americans With Disabilities Act, only businesses over 15 employees are subject to Title I. Nevertheless, we have the following accommodative policies for the benefit of all staff and contractors.

  • Our employment and contractor policies prohibit discrimination on the basis of disability, whether temporary or permenant.
  • All staff and contractors work from home and can thus make their physical work environment suitable for their own needs.
  • Staff and contractors set their own working hours, in conjunction with their supervisor.
  • Staff and contractors can use paid time during the workday for their own medical appointments and those of family as needed after providing reasonable notice to their supervisor, without it counting against PTO.

Conformance status and assessment approach

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

We assess our accessibility via self-evaluation. Geocodio's accessibility has not been assessed by a third party.
