Geocodio and TomTom are both tools that will convert addresses into latitude/longitude coordinates and coordinates into addresses.
Data Storage and Caching
TomTom prohibits data storage. Caching is allowed only for as long as TomTom's response headers permit, and TomTom data may not be used to compile derivative databases. TomTom results may be shown on third-party maps and with third-party data. See the caching and derivative-database clauses in TomTom's Terms and Conditions.
In practice, this means a team that maintains a geocoded database has to re-process the entire cumulative database with TomTom on a rolling basis. At 100,000 new addresses per month, that works out to roughly $6,100 in year one with TomTom versus roughly $1,170 with Geocodio, where each address is geocoded once and stored. Geocodio's permissive terms do not impose usage restrictions. Data storage, caching, and transfer are permitted. Geocodio results may be shown on third-party maps and with third-party data. Geocodio data may be used in derivative works. (See our full Terms of Use.)
Pricing
TomTom is transitioning developers to its new Orbis Maps platform. The current published free tier is 20,000 transactions per month. Paid rates sit behind TomTom's pricing configurator and depend on volume commitments. Directionally, geocoding runs around €0.75/1,000 and reverse geocoding around €0.50/1,000. Prepaid credits are required to exceed the free tier, and expire within a year.
Geocodio has one set of pricing regardless of use case, with an offer of 2,500 lookups free/day. Prices start at $1/1,000 for pay-as-you-go usage. Volume discounts are available on prepaid credit purchases, and prepaid credits do not expire.

Geocodio does not currently support POIs.

TomTom has worldwide support.
Geocodio supports the US, Canada, Mexico, and the UK.
Additional Data
In addition to geocoding, TomTom can provide traffic data, driving directions, POIs, and electric charger stations.

Autocomplete
TomTom supports autocomplete through their Search API.
Geocodio does not currently support autocomplete.
Rate Limiting
TomTom has a rate limit of 5 requests per second.
Geocodio has a rate limit of 1,000 requests per minute for the pay-as-you-go plan when using our single request endpoint. There is no rate limiting on the Unlimited plan.
