Geocodio and PostGrid both let you turn addresses into latitude and longitude coordinates and verify addresses against USPS data. They approach it from different directions. PostGrid is first and foremost a direct mail automation platform, and its geocoding is a feature of its CASS-certified address verification API. Geocodio is a dedicated geocoding and address data API built for bulk processing and data enrichment.

Does PostGrid let you permanently store or share data and results? Does Geocodio let you keep data and results?

PostGrid's published Terms of Service do not set a cache window or deletion deadline for verification or geocoding results, which puts PostGrid ahead of providers like Google or HERE on this question. The license PostGrid grants is scoped to internal use, though. From Section 4.1 of PostGrid's Terms:

PostGrid grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Services for your internal business purposes during your Subscription Term.

The Terms also prohibit sharing, reselling, or sublicensing access to the Services, and do not directly address what happens to results you have already exported if you later leave. If you plan to redistribute or resell data built on PostGrid results, that is a question to put to their team in writing before you commit.

Geocodio allows you to permanently store, share, reuse, copy, or otherwise use most results from our service without restrictions. (The only limitation is on UK reverse geocoding, which must be deleted one year after your subscription ends, per Royal Mail's terms.)

Our caveat is that it must be allowed by the underlying data source license, yet we only integrate underlying datasets that are restriction-free. (See more about our sources here.) Here's the exact language from our Terms:

Does PostGrid have free geocoding? Does Geocodio have free geocoding?

PostGrid gives new accounts a one-time grant of 500 free credits for the standard address verification API (100 free credits for bulk verification, 50 for the international API). There is no recurring free tier: once the signup credits are used, you are on a paid plan.

What is the accuracy of PostGrid geocoding? What is the accuracy of Geocodio geocoding?

PostGrid's geocoding is delivered through its address verification API: you verify an address and can request coordinates along with it. PostGrid states that geocodes are returned with an accuracy score and information about how the geocode was determined, and markets rooftop-level geocoding for verified US addresses.

Geocodio's geocoding accuracy is mostly at the individual address level. Given a random sample, 80% of results will be the exact parcel, 10% of the results will be in front of the house on the street, and 10% will be lower accuracy types such as a nearby address, neighborhood, or city-level. All results are returned with an accuracy score, match type (such as building centroid or parcel), and accuracy type so you can easily filter out lower-accuracy results. Secondary unit-level geocoding is included without add-on fees.

What are PostGrid's data sources? What are Geocodio's data sources?

PostGrid verifies addresses against official postal databases: USPS for the US (with database updates from USPS at least monthly, per PostGrid's FAQ) and Canada Post for Canada. PostGrid is CASS certified (USPS) and SERP certified (Canada Post). The sources behind its geocoding coordinates are not individually named.

Does PostGrid do address verification? Does Geocodio do address verification?

Yes. Address verification is PostGrid's core data product, and it is a genuine strength. PostGrid is CASS and NCOA certified, offers delivery point validation (DPV), residential delivery indicators (RDI), address autocomplete, and NCOA move updates. If USPS-certified verification and mail deliverability are the center of your workflow, PostGrid is built for exactly that.

PostGrid's address verification is sold as monthly subscriptions with overage rates (published prices as of July 2026, billed annually):

• Essential is $18/month for 2,000 lookups, then $0.02 per additional lookup ($20/month if billed monthly).

• Business is $40/month for 10,000 lookups, then $0.01 per additional lookup ($45/month if billed monthly).

• Growth is $200/month for 50,000 lookups, then $0.005 per additional lookup ($225/month if billed monthly).

• Bulk verification is priced separately at $0.05 per US/Canada verification up to 10,000 and $0.03 from 10,000 to 100,000, with custom pricing above that.

• International verification is a separate product starting at $70/month for 1,000 lookups.

Two details in the fine print matter for geocoding workloads. First, on PostGrid's pricing page, geocoding is listed as an additional lookup on every plan, so an address that is both verified and geocoded consumes two lookups. Second, PostGrid's Address Verification Product Terms set a default rate limit of 5 lookup requests per second, and plans marketed as Unlimited are annual-only with a ceiling of 30 million verifications per month.
