Get Ready for the 2026 Election as States Release New District Maps

Quick summary: You can now match addresses or coordinates to districts for the 120th Congress with Geocodio via API and spreadsheet upload. Redistricting is actively in progress in several states, and Geocodio is continually monitoring and updating as new data becomes available. Need up-to-date Congressional district boundaries for the November 2026 mid-term elections? Geocodio now supports Congressional district boundaries for the upcoming 120th Congress.

Geocodio is actively tracking ongoing redistricting, yet many states that have engaged in mid-cycle redistricting haven't yet released their finalized maps.

However, we're making the append available now, with the districts as of the current boundaries, so you'll have immediate access to new district data as soon as it becomes publicly available.

How to Get District Data for the 120th Congress

120th Congress Districts via API

If you're using with the Geocodio API, simply use the new cd120 field append to add the upcoming Congressional districts to your address or coordinate data. This works just like the current cd or cd119 appends you may already be using.

For example, your API request might look like this:

Need a refresher on implementing field codes? Check out Geocodio's data appends documentation for complete details.

NOTE: Geocodio's cd append will default to the current 119th Congress until the 120th Congress is sworn in (January 2027).

Not sure whether to use cd or cd120? The one you use depends on what you need:

Congress append name Data provided Primary use case
cd,cd119 Current districts and member information Constituent identification and engagement
cd120 Upcoming districts Election-related

Adding 120th Congress Districts to a Spreadsheet of Addresses or Coordinates

Prefer working with spreadsheets? No problem!

With Geocodio, you can upload a spreadsheet of addresses and one-click add Congressional districts and member information. When you upload your file and check the box for "US Congressional Districts" in the data appends step, you'll now see an option to select "Districts as of the 120th Congress" from the dropdown menu. Choose that option manually and you're all set.

(Remember, if you don't select an option from the drop-down, it will default to the 119th Congress districts.)

Which states are mid-cycle redistricting and might have new districts for the 120th Congress?

The 120th Congress will reflect new district boundaries based on elections taking place in November 2026, with representatives officially taking their seats in January 2027.

Here's the thing: Most states will continue to use the boundaries established after the 2020 Census.

However, a group of states—including Texas, California, Missouri, North Carolina and a handful of others—are engaged in mid-cycle redistricting. This could result in a more wide-scale change of boundaries than is typical at this point in a decade.

Many states that have elected to proceed with midcycle redistricting haven't provided publicly available maps yet. We're ready to incorporate new map data the moment it becomes available, but for now, these states may still be in the planning or approval stages of their redistricting processes.

We know it's critical that you have accurate district data. The Geocodio team is continually monitoring news and official sources closely to ensure our data stays as current as possible. Be sure to check our redistricting page regularly for updates, where you can use our interactive state-by-state map to see the current status of each state.

Get Ready Now

Even though many district maps aren't finalized yet, adding cd120 support now means you can start planning and testing your workflows and integrations ahead of time. As states release their new boundaries, Geocodio will update the data promptly, and new district data will be delivered to you—no extra work needed on your end.

Want to see which states have released their maps? Head over to our redistricting tracker to check the latest status, and be sure to bookmark it for updates as we move through 2026.

As always, if you have any questions about accessing 120th Congress data or anything else Geocodio-related, don't hesitate to reach out to our support team. We're here to help!
