Save on your future Geocodio bills — buy credits

We're making changes to the discount structure for our pay-as-you-go plan. These changes may impact you, and we want you to be fully informed about how to save money going forward.

What's changing and why

For all usage after September 1, 2025, in order get a volume discount, you will need to purchase pre-paid credits. (August usage, which will be billed on September 1, will be billed as normal.)

You will still have the option to pay for your monthly usage on the first of the following month. However, rolled-up usage will not be eligible for volume discounts.

We're making this change as we've seen a significant increase in failed payments for pay-as-you-go usage in the last few years. It is simply not sustainable to offer a discount on an invoice that might never be paid.

Transparently, the discount amounts and thresholds will be changing as well. Our business is not immune to the effects of inflation, and we've significantly improved the service over the last several years in terms of accuracy, data appends, new features, and more. By keeping both the free tier and the per-lookup price the same but decreasing volume discounts, we can offset these costs while keeping Geocodio's pay-as-you-go plan available.

Even after these changes, Geocodio will still be the most affordable commercial geocoder.

How this may impact you

Depending on your usage, you may save money by buying blocks of credits. Credits can be purchased on the dashboard, and volume discounts kick-in when you purchase 500,000 credits or more. You can choose whether you'd like them to automatically refresh or not.

We know that usage can vary throughout the year, which is why credits don't expire.

If you want the most predictability in terms of billing, you might consider switching to self-service Unlimited. Unlimited is a flat $1,000/month or $11,400/year and gives you a dedicated instance of Geocodio that we manage for you. Each instance can process up to 5 million lookups per day per instance (when optimized with batch processing).

In terms of lookups, the threshold where you'll save money by switching to Unlimited is approximately 2 million lookups/month with monthly billing, or 2.2m with credits.
