With Geocodio, you can add UK political district information to a spreadsheet of UK addresses, postal codes, or coordinates. Three categories of district data are available, covering all four nations of the United Kingdom:

• Westminster (UK Parliament) constituencies

• Devolved parliament districts (Scottish Parliament, Senedd Cymru, and Northern Ireland Assembly)

• Local government districts (wards and, where applicable, County Electoral Divisions)

This guide covers the Devolved parliament districts (Scottish Parliament, Senedd Cymru, and Northern Ireland Assembly).

The following data points are returned for each district:

• District name

• GSS code (the official UK government identifier)

• Nation (ENG, SCT, WLS, or NIR)

• District type (e.g. westminster_constituency, ward, county_electoral_division)

• OCD ID, where available (see OCD-IDs guide)

• Source publisher (usually the Office for National Statistics)

API

You can request UK political district appends via the API using the fields parameter (uk-westminster, uk-devolved, and uk-local). Multiple appends can be combined in a single request, comma-separated.

Election-focused? Use the -next variant

Every UK district field append has a matching -next variant (uk-westminster-next, uk-devolved-next, uk-local-next)which returns the next known set of boundaries for each district type. If you are primarily concerned with elections rather than someone’s current representation, use the -next variant to gracefully handle redistricting.

As there are no current pending changes, these variants return today’s boundaries.

Cost

UK address and coordinate lookups cost 2 credits each. Each political district field append adds 1 credit per address.

For example, a UK address with all three district appends (uk-westminster, uk-devolved, and uk-local) costs 5 credits in total: 2 for the geocoding lookup, plus 1 for each of the three field appends.

UK access requires a Flex plan or a UK-enabled Unlimited subscription. UK lookups are not available on Pay-As-You-Go.

UK Devolved Parliament Constituencies

• Field append: uk-devolved

• Returns the relevant devolved parliament constituencies(s) for each address.

• Coverage varies by constituent country:

  • Scotland: Returns both a Scottish Parliament constituency (73 total) and a regional list seat (8 regions).

  • Wales: Returns a Senedd Cymru constituency. (As of 6 May 2026, Senedd regions were  abolished.)

  • Northern Ireland: Returns an NI Assembly constituency (18 total). These share boundaries with Westminster NI constituencies.

  • England does not have a devolved parliament, so no results will be returned for this append. You will not be charged for any England requests with this append, and the field will return an empty result. 

• OCD IDs - Coverage varies by body:

  • Complete for NI Assembly

  • Partial for the current Senedd (23 of 40 seats)

  • Partial for the Scottish Parliament (7 of 73 constituencies). Scottish regions, Senedd regions, and the 2026 Senedd constituencies do not currently have OCD IDs.
